¸Û°Äͼ¿â Podiatrist Provides Relief for Foot and Ankle Pain
"The foot and ankle take a lot of pounding every day. Over time, that can result in pain or limitation," says Robert Marroquin, DPM, a podiatrist with ¸Û°Äͼ¿â Podiatry Specialists in Suffolk. "My goal is to find the source of the pain and treat it appropriately so that my patients can live an active, healthy lifestyle."
Powering the lower body is a complicated network of bones, joints and ligaments. When something in the network breaks down, it can lead to pain and make even small movements more difficult. There are hundreds of possible foot and ankle ailments—and podiatrists treat them all.

They work collaboratively to ensure patients receive prompt attention, an accurate diagnosis and the right treatment solution. "We enjoy delivering high-level medical center care typically only seen in large metro areas, but adding a personal, local community touch," says Dr. Marroquin. "There is nothing like the feeling of knowing you’ve helped resolve pain for patients."
"We always start treatment with the most conservative means," says Dr. Marroquin, including:
- Braces
- Orthotics
- Physical therapy
- Shoe modifications
- Steroid injection therapy
When surgery is necessary, Dr. Marroquin offers minimally-invasive approaches like arthroscopy and tendoscopy. During these procedures, the doctor operates through tiny incisions using sophisticated surgical instruments with high-definition cameras attached.
"The minimally-invasive approach can be beneficial for patients. They typically have less swelling and less pain, and they get back on their feet quicker compared to recovery from traditional open surgery," says Dr. Marroquin. "Most patients go home the same day and have their stitches removed within two weeks."
