At ¸Û°Äͼ¿â Martha Jefferson Cancer Care Center, we know that a diagnosis of cancer puts you on a lifelong journey, one that does not end when your treatment does. Ongoing support is critical for cancer survivors to live well long after their medical treatment ends.
The ¸Û°Äͼ¿â Martha Jefferson Cancer Survivorship Program was developed to help cancer survivors thrive after cancer treatment. Our providers are available to help to manage both the physical and emotional changes you may experience from diagnosis through treatment and beyond.
Our Survivorship Program incorporates two key areas:
- Cancer Survivorship Clinic
- Survivor Support Services
Cancer survivorship begins at the time of your diagnosis. Our clinic helps you transition to wellness by providing support services and evidence-based care. Each individual’s needs are different. Depending on your needs, a visit to our clinic may include:
- A review of your cancer diagnosis and treatment and a physical exam to assess your needs
- The identification of management strategies to help you cope with the physical, emotional, and social effects of cancer and its treatment
- Risk assessment for other cancers with screening as appropriate
- Lifestyle coaching to help you improve your health and reduce the risk of a recurrence through nutrition, exercise, weight management and smoking cessation
- The development of a personalized follow-up care program based on your specific needs
- Ongoing consultation with the oncologists who treated you, as needed
