Dr. Brush earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia in 1980 after finishing his undergraduate studies at Hampden-Sydney Collegein 1976. He completed his internal medicine internship and residency at the University of Vermont School of Medicine in Burlington, VT in 1983 and cardiology fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, CT in 1985.
As an experienced cardiologist, Dr. Brush uses his expertise to diagnose heart conditions and to develop plans to help prevent and treat coronary artery disease, heart arrhythmias, high blood pressure, diabetes, peripheral arterial disease, and heart failure. He has research interests in outcomes research and medical reasoning and is the author of the book "The Science of the Art of Medicine: A Guide to Medical Reasoning."
Dr. Brush is the Senior Medical Director of the ¸Û°Äͼ¿â Research Center and a professor of Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology. Dr. Brush served on the Board of Trustees of the American College of Cardiology and the Cardiovascular Board of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is past president of the ACC Virginia Chapter and the American Heart Association Tidewater Affiliate.
